The KMC Group was founded in 2000 in Antwerp, Belgium to provide networking and PC support. KMC Group was independent subsidiary of KMC Group founded in the Rotterdam, Netherlands in 1973. The company quickly expanded into Antwerp’s diamond sector providing additional technology solutions and office furniture. KMC Group moved up a league when it introduced mobile boxes for streaming video surveillance and providing technology for long range wireless internet access. The largest customer, and largest installation to date, was the Port of Antwerp. KMC Group used existing antennas and poles to install its Wi-Fi boxes over to create a wireless network covering 64 km² of the port. KMC Group was sold in 2009.
